2010 Commonwealth Games Population Adjusted Medals Ranking
The Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games has arrived and we take a look at how the medal table might be ranked if adjustment is made for the 'size' of each nation. The table below shows adjustment made by dividing medal value by population. In fact we think that adjustment based on GDP is fairer and if you want to see how that turns out take a look at our GDP Adjusted Ranking.
The total value given to medals won is based on the notion that the value of a gold (12pts) is slightly more than twice that of a silver (5pts), which in turn is slightly more than twice that of a bronze (2pts). It is this 'Medals Value' which is then divided by population to establish this ranking.
