The Senegalese flag was adopted on Aug 20, 1960 and comprises three vertical bands, colored (from left to right) green, yellow and red, plus a green five-pointed star at the center. Senegal is located in western Africa on the Atlantic coast. It completely surrounds The Gambia and has a relatively flat landscape. The outline of the map is quite irregular and in combination with the traditional colors flag creates unique and distinctive designs for Senegalese national mementos.
